The American Royal Association announced today that Midwest Ford Dealers is the inaugural sponsor of the first class of inductees to the National Barbecue Hall of Fame℠ at the American Royal and the formal induction ceremony, which will take place on the main stage of the World Series of Barbecue® on October 6th.

℠ inductees have demonstrated a crowning achievement in barbecue excellence. The Business/Industry category inductee, Henry Ford, is being recognized for turning wood scraps from the production of Model T's into charcoal briquettes and forming the Kingsford Charcoal
company. The Pitmaster category inductee, Johnny Trigg
, is known as the “Godfather of BBQ” and is one of the featured personalities on TLC’s hit barbecue show the BBQ Pitmasters. The Celebrity/Humanitarian category inductee, Guy Fieri
, has been a pitmaster with the Motley Que Crew competition barbecue team and is host of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives on the Food Network.

The National Barbecue Hall of Fame℠ currently has seven members. Industry greats who were inducted prior to the American Royal becoming the official home of the National Barbecue Hall of Fame℠ include: Rich Davis, Fred Gould, Speed Herrig, Mike Mills, Carolyn Wells, Gary Wells and John Willingham. All past inductees will be included in the induction ceremony and the celebration of the new home of the National Barbecue Hall of Fame℠ at the American Royal.
The American Royal World Series of Barbecue® will be returning for the 33rd year to the historic West Bottoms during October 4-7.
